Payment Policy
Last Updated: 31 July 2026
At Hailey Bell, we aim to provide Australian customers with a secure, clear and convenient payment experience. This Payment Policy explains the payment methods, currency, transaction process and security measures that apply when purchasing through our online store.
Accepted Currency
All prices displayed on the Hailey Bell website are shown in Australian dollars (AUD) unless expressly stated otherwise.
The total amount payable, including any applicable taxes, shipping charges or other unavoidable fees, will be displayed before you complete your order.
Your bank or payment provider may apply currency-conversion fees or international transaction fees if your account or payment method is denominated in another currency. These fees are determined by your provider and are not charged or controlled by Hailey Bell.
Accepted Payment Methods
Subject to availability at checkout, we may accept the following payment methods:
Credit and Debit Cards
- Visa
- Mastercard
- American Express
Digital Payment Methods
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Shop Pay
Only payment methods displayed at checkout are available for a particular transaction. Availability may depend on your device, location, browser and payment provider.
Secure Transactions
Our store is hosted on Shopify. Shopify provides automatic SSL encryption and maintains Level 1 PCI DSS compliance for stores operating through its platform. PCI DSS is a security standard designed for organisations that process, store or transmit card information.
SSL encryption helps protect information transmitted between your browser and our website.
Payment information may be processed directly by Shopify Payments or another authorised payment provider. Hailey Bell does not generally receive or store your complete card number, security code or complete payment credentials.
Although we and our service providers use appropriate security measures, no electronic payment system or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Payment Authorisation
When you place an order, your payment provider may:
- verify your payment details;
- check whether sufficient funds or credit are available;
- conduct fraud and security checks;
- place a temporary authorisation hold; or
- request additional authentication.
Your payment method may be charged or authorised when the order is submitted, depending on the payment provider and checkout configuration.
An order is not considered fully accepted merely because a payment has been authorised. We may still need to confirm product availability, payment validity and order details.
Payment Verification
To prevent fraud and unauthorised transactions, we may review an order before processing it.
We may contact you to request reasonable additional information where:
- billing and delivery details do not match;
- an order is identified as unusually high risk;
- the payment provider requests verification;
- the transaction appears duplicated;
- fraud or unauthorised use is suspected; or
- additional information is reasonably needed to complete the order.
We will never ask you to send a complete card number, password or card security code by email.
If verification cannot be completed, we may cancel the order and refund or release the authorised amount.
Failed or Declined Payments
A payment may be declined for reasons including:
- insufficient funds or available credit;
- incorrect payment information;
- an expired card;
- billing-address mismatch;
- transaction limits;
- security or fraud controls;
- online or international payments being disabled; or
- a temporary issue with the payment provider.
Hailey Bell does not control the approval or refusal of payments by banks and payment providers.
When a payment is declined, please check the information entered, contact your provider or try another available payment method.
Authorisation Holds and Duplicate Pending Charges
A failed or cancelled payment attempt may sometimes appear as a pending transaction or temporary authorisation hold.
This does not necessarily mean that the amount has been charged twice. The release time is determined by your bank or payment provider and may take several business days.
Where you believe you have been charged more than once, contact us at info@byhaileybell.com with your order number and relevant transaction information. Do not send complete payment-card details by email.
Payment Charges and Card Surcharges
Hailey Bell does not currently intend to add a separate payment surcharge unless it is clearly disclosed before checkout and permitted by applicable law.
Under current Australian rules, a card surcharge must not exceed the business’s actual cost of accepting that payment type. Where no surcharge-free payment option exists, the minimum unavoidable surcharge must be included in the displayed price.
Australian card-surcharge rules are changing. From 1 October 2026, the designated Visa, Mastercard and eftpos networks may introduce rules preventing surcharges on their prepaid, debit and credit cards. This section should therefore be reviewed before that date.
Third parties such as banks, card issuers or currency-conversion providers may separately charge fees under their own terms.
Taxes and Price Display
Prices and mandatory charges will be presented clearly before an order is submitted.
Where required, applicable taxes will be included in the displayed or checkout price.
Hailey Bell will not add undisclosed mandatory charges after the customer completes an order.
Australian pricing rules generally require businesses to display a total price that includes taxes, duties and unavoidable or preselected fees.
Promotional Codes and Discounts
Where a discount or promotional code is offered:
- it must be entered before completing checkout;
- it may be subject to eligibility requirements and an expiry date;
- it may not be combined with another offer unless expressly stated;
- it cannot normally be applied retrospectively to a completed order; and
- it has no cash value unless required by law.
Where a technical error causes a promotion to be incorrectly applied, we may contact you before processing the order and provide the option to continue at the correct price or cancel the affected order.
Nothing in this section limits rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Refunds
Approved refunds will generally be issued to the original payment method used for the order.
We aim to process approved refunds within the period stated in our Return and Refund Policy. After processing, your bank or payment provider may require additional time before the funds appear in your account.
Refund processing times are outside our control once the refund has been submitted to the payment provider.
Store credit will not replace a refund that a customer is legally entitled to receive unless the customer agrees.
Order Cancellations
Cancellation requests should be submitted as soon as possible to:
Cancellation cannot be guaranteed once an order has entered processing or has been dispatched.
Where an order is successfully cancelled after payment has been collected, the relevant amount will be refunded to the original payment method.
Further information is available in our Return and Refund Policy.
Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute, we encourage customers to contact us so that we can investigate and attempt to resolve the issue.
Please provide:
- your name;
- order number;
- transaction date;
- a description of the problem; and
- any relevant supporting information.
This does not prevent you from exercising rights available through your bank, payment provider or applicable law.
Fraudulent or intentionally misleading chargeback claims may be contested using relevant order, payment, delivery and communication records.
Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this Payment Policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, statutory right or remedy that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Where this Payment Policy conflicts with a mandatory legal right, the mandatory legal right will prevail.
Changes to This Payment Policy
We may update this Payment Policy to reflect:
- changes to accepted payment methods;
- changes to our payment providers;
- technical or security updates;
- legal or regulatory developments; or
- changes to our business operations.
The updated version will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
Changes will not retrospectively remove rights relating to an order placed before the updated policy took effect.
